Monday 11 May is the target for Epwin Window Systems' manufacturing facilities to get rolling. 4 May saw the firm begin a phased and controlled reopening of its Telford operation.

The first week saw a small team of customer service personnel becoming available to discuss customers’ order requirements, whilst the production plant also fired up.

"All safety protocols have been meticulously implemented throughout the business to avoid the spread of Covid-19," stated MD Clare O’Hara.

“The safety and welfare of our employees, customers and suppliers remains paramount and we have conducted extensive risk assessments throughout the business to allow this safe and phased return to work.”

Limited workforce

The initial reopening will operate with a limited workforce in place to support the immediate needs of the business.   This will be closely monitored on a week-by-week basis and scaled up as and when business levels dictate.

"There is little doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected lives and businesses in an unprecedented way," continued O’Hara. "All companies will have to adapt to different ways of doing business in the ‘new normal’ that allows for social distancing of some degree.

"With that in mind, the Epwin Window Systems’ marketing team have produced a series of ‘safe-working posters’ which are available for customers to download and use around their premises."

The posters are available by emailing Gerald Allen, Epwin Window Systems’ Marketing Manager, at gallen@epwin.co.uk

Patience, support and understanding

O’Hara added: “Like all businesses, in preparation for our phased reopening we have needed to implement workplace safety protocols throughout all business areas and I would like to personally thank all Epwin personnel who have made this happen. I would also like to thank our valued customers for their patience, support and understanding at this time as we look to regenerate a solid platform as the fenestration industry returns.”
