Conservatory Roof Replacement

The conservatory roof replacement market in the UK still remains largely untapped writes Andrew Kerr, MD of NECS. This means there are hundreds of thousands of opportunities to upgrade them.

North East Conservatory Solutions regularly fit warm roofs to replace the original glass or polycarbonate on conservatories – and the market for this service alone just keeps growing.

The number of conservatories in the UK is not definitively known, however a government survey in 2011 suggested that there were nearly four million conservatories in the UK. Although sales of conventional conservatories have slowed, the number could now stand at five million.

In 2022 Guardian Building Systems supplied over 8,000 warm roofs in the UK. It is one of the leading brands in the roof replacement market. NECS is the largest Certified Guardian warm roof fabricator in the UK and we have our own network of approved installers.

The Guardian warm roof is one of very few LABC (Local Authority Building Control) partner systems and one of the only roofs to have been independently tested by the BRE (Building Research Establishment). A key aspect is the build quality and enhanced thermal performance.

Impact of working from home

The more people work from the home, the more investment they make on expanding and developing their houses. Turning a conservatory into a workspace or converting an existing room into a study are typical of the trends triggered by the increase in people working from home.

The increase in the number of people working from home over the past couple of years has really highlighted how unusable older conservatories are.

Extensions?

Homeowners are looking to utilise any free space in their homes and with the cost of all building materials increasing exponentially in recent times an extension is an expensive investment.

The Guardian warm roof provides the answer as a great way to use the existing space of a conservatory at a fraction of the cost of an extension. Independently tested to meet the most recent building regulation requirements, it gives homeowners the peace of mind that they are getting a useable, thermally efficient room – usually within seven days.

What NECS can provide

We are dedicated to providing a wide range of home improvement products and services, which include the Guardian warm roof, the Liniar conservatory roof and Sheerline roof lanterns.

Everything we manufacturer is prebuilt in the factory to ensure everything is cut to size to reduce installation times and waste on site. We also offer a survey and installation service which, we believe, sets us apart from the competition.
