DoorCo Does Doncaster

DoorCo has plans to open a manufacturing factory in Doncaster. Head of operations, Mark Towers told The Fabricator all about the new facility.

Towers says: “Taking on a space where we could manufacture new products right here in the UK felt like a natural next step for us. Our new facility in Doncaster is a space for us to create.

“We’ve taken 20,000sq.ft at present but we have the option to expand further. It doubles as both a manufacturing factory and R&D space. It allows us to have a UK-based location to produce new products on a full-time basis whilst also testing new concepts and working on bespoke projects.”

The home of a new brand

Towers adds: “One of the most exciting parts of the new DoorCo manufacturing space is that it will become the home of a new brand – but I can’t tell you anything about it just now…but it isn’t too far away from launch.

“We already own the ORiGINAL and GRiPCORE brands of composite door and the FLiP glazing cassette system but we knew there was an obvious opening for the addition of a new product and we’re in the final stages of bringing this to market now.”

An opportunity to recruit

Discussing the recruitment opportunities that this new facility has provided, Towers says: “One of the greatest parts of opening a new facility in a new location is the ability to be able to provide the area with job opportunities.

“We’re already proud to be one of Macclesfield’s largest employers, so it’s great to be able to now expand our reach into Doncaster. We’ve hired for a number of positions including production operatives and management roles.”

Commenting on the opening of the new space, DoorCo’s MD, Dan Sullivan, says: “We’re really pleased to see the Doncaster facility coming together now and so nearly ready to start production. We’re excited to welcome the new team members who are helping us bring this to life and to see the new brand in production in the space very soon.”
