2025 has marked a landmark year for Twinseal Limited, as the IGU manufacturer celebrates 50 years since it was founded and 20 years since it took on Edgetech Super Spacer.

The company was founded by Allan Cowen and has grown to be a third-generation family business. It is led by Allan’s son Billy and Billy’s eldest son Lee, who joined the company exactly 20 years ago.

“We have many anniversaries this year,” says MD Billy. “As well as it being 50 years since the company was started by my father, it’s 40 years since we began manufacturing sealed units and 25 years since we manufactured our own toughened glass.

“But our most significant investment came exactly 20 years ago when, alongside Edgetech and Forel, we started automated unit production using Edgetech’s Super Spacer.”

Efficiency gains

Billy continues: “This really did transform our ability to produce high quality sealed units in a way that also improved our efficiency and quality.”

Operations director Lee agrees: “The quality and reliability of Edgetech’s products are impeccable and we have been supported every step of the way. From setting up our original automated line to helping us scale our production, they’ve been invaluable. We’re now well positioned to continue growing with confidence.”

Other partners

Edgetech is just one example of the many strong partnerships Twinseal has built up with its suppliers over the years. Today, Twinseal is backed by a supplier network that includes Saint-Gobain, Unilam and Bostik, relationships that Billy says are vital to the company’s ongoing success: “The biggest factor of our success over the last 50 years has been choosing the right partners, investing in the right technology and delivering the quality our customers expect.”
