Ultraframe Buys Prefix Systems Out Of Administration

Administrators at Leonard Curtis have sold the group companies of Prefix Systems to Ultraframe. Prefix went administration on 9 January. About 51 jobs have been saved at this time.

The group comprised Prefix Systems Holdings Limited, Prefix Systems (UK) Limited and Prefix Systems (South) Limited. The firm was established in 1996 and specialises in the supply of aluminium windows, conservatory roofs, rooflights, lanterns and a warm roof product. It has an HQ in Blackburn premises in Swansea. Andrew Knowles and Hilary Pascoe were appointed Joint administrators. After a short period of marketing, they succeeded in selling the whole group and assets as a going concern to Altrincham based Homie Limited, which is part of the Latium Group which owns Ultraframe.  Andrew Knowles said: “We are delighted to have completed this sale in just a week or two. The group is now part of a larger company with complementary skill sets who want to retain valued staff.”

Service as normal?

A spokesperson for Ultraframe said on 20 January (the day of the acauisition): “While Prefix was not viable as a stand-alone business it does enhance our offering, adding certain complementary products to our range.

”Ultraframe and Prefix have some similar but also some different products operating across the fenestration, home extension and outdoor living markets.

”We will continue to run the Prefix business to properly understand it and evaluate a way forward to best meet the needs of customers. In the meantime, Prefix will continue to service the needs of its customers and operate as normal.

”Importantly, we recognise the quality and long service of many Prefix staff who we are transferring to the new company on existing contracts.”
