Glazed-In Louvres For Office To Flats Conversion

Irene House has been converted from offices in to flats. Window Ware provided glazed-in louvres as part of the glass elements for the ambitious project in Balham, London.

Window Ware's contract was to supply the fabricator which in turn had to supply almost 300 triple glazed aluminium windows. The project demanded custom-built louvres with insulation blanking panels to meet the specified U-values. The intention was to connect the panels directly to ducting for the ventilation system via a round cut-out made on site by the contractors. This would  allow for adequate airflow to meet building regulations. The louvres also needed to exactly match the finish of the specified Smart Aluminium window system.

Bespoke

Window Ware’s solution came in the form of bespoke DucoGrille solid F30Z aluminium glazed-in louvres, supplied with A1 rated insulated blanking panels, and powder coated in Smart’s textured anthracite grey KL14ST. At 32mm thick, the louvres were thicker than the standard 28mm to suit the triple glazed glass panels specified in the project.

“Quoting for these kinds of specialist projects isn’t a five minute job. We always take the time to understand the parameters of the installation properly and we work closely with the contractor to verify specifications and make sure our solutions fulfil the requirement.”

Brief helps

“A clear brief is always going to achieve the best possible outcome for the customer,” continues Window Ware’s Fraser. “And when the project is complete, it’s great to see the pictures of the finished building with our louvres looking smart in their new home, each one fitting like a glove and doing their job perfectly.”
