Look At The Stars Of The Summer – It Was All Yellow

Butter Yellow is the sweetest colour so far this summer. The soft shade of yellow that sits between pastel and deep lemon tones has been seen in refurbished rooms and hallways up and down the country.

Matching doors and windows to contemporary colours (especially important for front doors) is a great tool for fabricators and installers. Butter Yellow is uplifting yet soothing, it brings the glow of early morning light into the home, making it perfect for everything from walls to accessories.

Dedicated follower of fashion

Already a favourite in fashion, butter yellow is now making its mark in interiors. Taking cues from Dulux’s colour of the year 2025, True Joy, this toned-down yellow offers a softer alternative.

James Mellan-Matulewicz, the creative director at Bobbi Beck, says, “With the glorious summer weather, it makes for a great time to focus on your walls as much as your garden as the warm weather makes painting and decorating easier. Homeowners are then likely to look at what else would smarten up the home – we know that front doors are high on the list for those that can’t necessarily afford an extension and bi-folds”

Dopamine décor

With dopamine décor (designing for wellbeing) being a top trend for 2025, this summer is all about embracing bold and mood boosting design choices. Mellan-Matulewicz says: “One way this trend comes to life is through colour drenching, a technique where walls, ceilings and even woodwork are painted in the same warm shade.

“Buttery yellow creates a cocooning, joyful effect that lifts and transforms a space. Bright yet balanced, it's a perfect example of how dopamine décor can energise bedrooms, kitchens or cosy reading nooks without overwhelming them.
