The Supply Chain Imperative

In an industry marked by recurring challenges, Chris Pell, the general manager of independent hardware supplier Total Hardware, says the importance of strong supply chain relationships is imperative.

“Here at Total Hardware, maintaining an open and proactive dialogue throughout the supply change is paramount, ensuring we anticipate and address any potential issues swiftly whether it’s a time of calm or a time of crisis,” says Pell. “It allows us to foresee any issues at the earliest opportunity and react accordingly. It’s an approach that adds huge value to our customers’ businesses because it puts us one step ahead.”

Just in case working

Pell adds: “The recent string of global disruptions, from the impacts of Covid, geopolitical tensions to the current Red Sea problems, has highlighted the fragility of the global supply chain. This has underscored the need for a shift from ‘just in time’ to ‘just in case’ working practices. ‘Just in case’ has long been our ethos at Total Hardware. Our commitment to maintaining substantial stock levels ensures our customers receive the supply they rely on.”

Alongside its own product ranges, the company offers a selection of hardware products from worldwide hardware manufacturers at competitive prices.

Pell concludes: “Our ongoing collaboration with supply partners and customers is a fundamental aspect of our business, irrespective of supply chain challenges. Together, we navigate obstacles and respond promptly to ensure seamless operations.”
