Interserve has been carried forward as the preferred bidder for a project at Walsall Manor Hospital. The company will also create a Digital Innovation Hub at the SciTech Centre at Barnsley College.  

Interserve Construction will be responsible for the £4 million refurbishment of the four-storey centre supported by The Department of Education and The Sheffield City Region LEP

The new hub was procured via the YORbuild framework. Work has already commenced on the project, which will be handed over in three phases through August to September.

Walsall Manor

Interserve has also been named as preferred bidder for a £36 million redevelopment and will shortly commence enabling works on Walsall Manor Hospital’s new £36 million Emergency Department and Acute Medical Unit featuring  'front door' access to a new Urgent Treatment Centre and Paediatric Assessment Unit. The site will be prepared in readiness for the first stage of development with construction getting under way early next year.

Richard Myatt, Senior Project Manager, Interserve Construction, said: “We are obviously delighted that the project is taking another positive step forward, and are looking forward to continuing our work with the trust and the rest of the team in the development of the new Emergency Department.

“Work will soon commence on the site, with the main building construction starting early next year. With many of the Interserve team currently working with NHS trusts in the West Midlands, we hope that the new Walsall Manor Emergency Department will be part of a legacy of successful projects in our region’s healthcare estates.”
