New Emmegi CNS for 3D Aluminium

3D Aluminium has added an Emmegi Phantomatic X4 4-axis CNC machining centre to its already predominant collection of Emmegi machines. The Eynsham-based commercial aluminium fabricator says that it has relied on Emmegi’s performance for decades, so when it was looking to increase capacity and invest in more advanced CNC technology, the Emmegi brand was very much first choice.

The team at Emmegi (UK) understood 3D’s plans and recommended the Phantomatic X4 to 3D as the ideal machine to support those. The X4, according to emmeg, is a proven solution, with a 7kW S1 high torque electrospindle and 8-piece tool magazine for heavy duty machining on curtain walling sections. The 4-axis technology means the electrospindle can rotate around 180° and machine on the top and sides of the profile without having to be repositioned and, with an overlength feature, it has capacity for up to 8m bar lengths.

Integrated software controls the automatic positioning of the vice units depending on the length of the workpiece, so the machine is easy to operate, and there is a user-friendly interface displayed on a suspended, movable 15in touch screen.

Paul Batts, 3D’s operations director says: “This significant investment with Emmegi (UK) marks a new chapter in our commitment to precision engineering, efficiency and excellence in the fabrication of aluminium curtain walling, doors and windows.

“By integrating further advanced CNC technology into our production processes, we can ensure both the accuracy and consistency of our output, whilst also reducing lead times and increasing overall productivity.”

One of the lead operators of the machine from 3D also says: “As the main operator of the Emmegi Phantomatic X4 4-axis CNC, I’ve found the machine to be exceptionally user-friendly and highly reliable in day to day operation.

“Its intuitive interface and straightforward programming make set up efficient, even for the most complex machining tasks, allowing for a smooth workflow with minimal downtime. The precision and consistency of the machining performance are outstanding, delivering high quality finishes and tight tolerances across a wide range of profiles.

“Overall, the Phantomatic X4 combines ease of use with excellent operational performance, making it a valuable asset in maintaining both productivity and quality standards.”

Ian Latimer, Emmegi (UK)’s managing director says: “The supply of the Phantomatic X4 really demonstrates the value of a long term partnership with your machinery supplier. 3D told us they wanted to reduce material waste and optimise energy usage, as well as achieving performance improvements, and we were able to recommend a machining centre we knew would deliver all of that, and also dovetail perfectly with their existing Emmegi machining set up.
